I came across this around Christmas time, although it apparently occurred in 2016. A man was arrested for obstructing traffic in Portland, Maine while dressed as a tree. It was unclear what his purpose was, though "studying traffic patterns" was one of the reasons given. I chalk it up to a guerilla art performance. His outfit certainly resembles a traditional German "tree man" mumming costume. As one of our laufers said, "this is why we don't block traffic dressed as monsters"!
